2020 Reading Goals and Social Media Plans

Well hello everyone. I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve been posting on the blog and that’s probably because it has been awhile honestly.

In 2019, I had a lot of big goals but things didn’t really go as planned. As far as blogging and running the YouTube channel things just somewhat fell apart. I wasn’t very consistent with posting, I was extremely busy with my kids and being pregnant, and life just basically got in the way. I think one of the main reasons that things just kind of got away from me is that I didn’t realize how much work running a blog and a YouTube channel would actually require. I don’t know why I was under the impression that things would be easy.

Well lesson learned.

Now that I know how much work I need to put in to keep up with posting and filming, I have a better idea of where I want to go with the blog and the YouTube channel. So this post is basically just me letting you guys know a little bit about my plans and I’ll also give you a little insight on what I’m planning to do with my other social media accounts (instagram, twitter) as well.

So first I want to talk about the blog.

One major thing I want to focus on is consistency. One of the issues I had last year was maintaining a regular posting schedule and sticking to it. I couldn’t even be bothered to post at least once a week. I know that’s terrible for blogging especially when you have people waiting for you to put out more content. So for this year my goal is to just post at least once a week. Ideally, I want to keep a weekly posting schedule where I post about 2-3 times weekly but I’m just not sure if I’m ready to make that commitment yet.

The type of things I want to post on my blog are book reviews of course and I want to try to post reviews for at least 50% of all the books I read this year. I also want to make sure I’m posting them within 2-3 weeks of finishing the book. It is a whole lot easier to review a book when how you felt about it is still fresh in your mind!

I also want to start featuring other people from the online book community. I’ve met some amazing people through bookstagram and book twitter and I would love to be able to share these wonderful people with my readers/subscribers. I’m thinking maybe posting a new person every two weeks would be ideal. If I get to the point where I can post a new person every week I would but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Lastly I want to include more posts that are formatted as lists. Sometimes I think people just might want to quickly read something instead of reading through long posts. Honestly I’ve been that way before. It’s a whole lot easier for me to just skim through something than to read every detail. Especially since I’m constantly on the go with three children. These types of post will generally include things like my favorite books of a certain genre or theme, TBRs, monthly wrap ups and some other things I can’t think of right now. Basically it’ll be lists of things that are book related.

Of course these aren’t the only types of posts I’ll be putting on the blog, these are just some of the ones I’m more focused on including on a regular basis.

Next thing I want to focus on is my instagram account. I currently post from my instagram page @positivelybriana. I am still going to be posting consistently on this instagram and it will still be mostly book related although I throw some other content in there from time to time. I want to post to this Instagram profile at least once a day but I haven’t even been able to keep up with the daily posts so far. If I can at least post about 4-5 times a week I’ll be happy. Hopefully by the end of the year I will reach my goal of posting daily.

In addition to that Instagram I also created a second bookish instagram @positively.booked. I haven’t actually started posting on this one just yet. This one is going to be used for posting reviews only . All of the post on here will feature a head on shot of the book I read with a short review and star rating. I think this would be helpful for people that only want to read book reviews or look at recommendations . I have other plans on how to use the page later but since I’m not planning to do that for awhile there’s no need to mention it now.

Twitter is just twitter. I have made a second twitter matching the “positively booked” name but I haven’t decided how I’ll use it. I’ll probably use that one for promo of YouTube videos and blog posts. I’m also thinking I’ll start using that page to host readathons and giveaways.

So that’s pretty much it for my blog and social media plans. I’ll also be doing a YouTube video talking about my plans for my YouTube channel which I will go ahead and link on this post once I’ve recorded it.

Stay positive,
